We arrived in Santa Barbara feeling tired and a bit cranky and within 10 minutes we were like kids at Christmas. Motel 6, our first motel in the USA was within spitting distance of the beach, not that we would do that kind of thing! It was getting on, so we decided to grab some grub and enjoy the beach the next day. We soon realized that we would feel somewhat unhealthy and rotund in comparison to the Santa (Conan the) Barbarians when we strolled to the pier, whilst being overtaken by people either running, cycling, skateboarding, moonwalking or plainly walking faster than us! It is a very health concious place. We decided the only thing to do was to counteract this by purchasing bloody marys with the biggest shrimps in the world.
That got us in the mood. We hit town in search of a nice cold drink or 2 and found that we hard lots of choice. The first place we went to we were the oldest people in there. If I didn't know better I would have thought we had gatecrashed a McDonalds birthday party, with quasar as the big finale! After getting 23000 space shooting points and winning the colouring in comp we left for a real pub, with pool tables and everything. We spent the rest of the night there. It was great. Good music, friendly staff and heffavisen pyramid, possibly the best beer ever!It was soon becoming apparent that 2 days in Santa Barbara is not enough. after spending all day on the beach we went a land and sea tour of the town, which made us realize how much my statement is and was true. We saw learnt so much about the place and even saw some seals to boot.
Alas, we couldn't do everything, not that I was upset, I'd tryed something that would turn my life around... fish tacos! I would urge anyone to try it, even if it feels wrong or you said you'd never try one. Believe me there's nothing wrong with diving into a taco or 2. Yum.

Before you could say mumjam we had to leave and felt gutted! Santa barbara is an amazing place... Relaxed, fun and beautiful. We were beginning to enjoy California. It's more than just a home for terminators.
