We walked down 5th Street and found ourselves in a street full of boutiques, art galleries and restaurants. One of the first things that we noticed were the posters and banners still up for Comic Con 2009 which we had missed by a day - as annoying as this was, we did find Chuck Jones' Gallery - Chuck Jones was the Warner Bros. animation director who created iconic characters such as Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck. Also displayed in the gallery were works by various superhero and comic book artists which we coveted immediately.
For dinner we couldn't decide what to eat from all the various places - so we went to the home of the indecisive - the Brazilian bbq! If you haven't partaken in ones of these restaurants before - I urge you to try one out. There is no menu but instead the food comes to you - hunky waiters bring around huge chunks of chargrilled and roasted meat on skewers and carve off a slice if it tickles your fancy. We had some of the most tender steak and lamb and there is always a very comprehensive salad buffet to take advantage off.

Once dinner was over we decided to go on a bar crawl around the Gas-lamp quarter which is so full of cool bars and clubs, we literally crawled from door to door. For some reason we ended up about 3 hours later in a bar that had a live reggae band and we danced off some of the brazilian meat.
San Diego was the first city that we had been able to stay in a dorm room - it was a party town we reasoned, we'll meet cool people and talk into night. Upon going back to our room, we discovered that 4 of the 8 beds were already occupied by sleeping people - it was 11.45pm.

That slightly scuppered our plans to stay awake and chat to people - so we decided to get ready for bed. Bear in mind that we were in a co-ed room - there was no lock on the bathroom door..... for our first dorm room experience it was shaping up to be a bit crap. Hopefully it'll be better as we go on!
The next day we woke bright and early (were woken up bright and early!) and it was time to go to Seaworld. We'd bought a combination ticket with out Universal Studio ticket which saved us $30 each so we were pretty pleased with ourself. It was particularly hot that day so we were looking forward to getting soaked by Shamu - and getting soaked was pretty much what we did. Here's a couple of photos from the day.
San Diego was certainly classy, lively and full of interesting people and places - we definitely should have spent longer there and would love to go back.
Tits McGee.
